Events, Activities and Fun Times

We believe in having fun and keeping all of our residents active. That is why we offer events galore. We offer all seasonal activities during the year and priority is given to resident requests.

Our residents have a monthly “residents council” meeting, some of the discussion at this meeting includes events or activities that residents would like to participate in. Each month the residents choose a restaurant for the monthly lunch outing and a restaurant for the evening outing. The residents and the staff really enjoy these activities and have named the group “The Lunch Bunch”. Residents also vote on the resident of the month, who chooses a meal of the month that everyone enjoys.

The Lunch Bunch

Our activity department works very hard to keep the residents busy and active. They have been to many restaurants. Some of the dining choices our residents choose are Pittsburg’s Chicken Annie’s, Thayer’s Big Eds, Ernesto’s, Pizza Hut, Chetopa’s Buckboard and Deb’s Diner, just to mention a few of their favorites.

Outings

Other outings have included a trip to the Independence Zoo, Wichita Zoo, Precious Moments, Fort Scott National Historic Site, Dalton Museum, Parsons Museum, Katy Days Parade, Labette County Fair and many movies at the Parsons Theater. The Parsons Municipal building is also the site of many of the special attractions attended by the residents. Each year, all area nursing facilities gather at Forrest Park for a picnic and a train ride as well as to enjoy entertainment from local schools. The residents also enjoy scenic rides throughout the spring, summer and fall.

Activities

With the assistance from our great volunteers, we are able to offer
a variety of activities within the facility. Some of the favorites include,
bingo, bible study, cooking, bowling club, exercise class, and music
time. Physical and mental exercises to stretch both mind and body
are offered daily. Church services are scheduled each Sunday
afternoon. We also have a very popular movie and popcorn night.

We offer beautician and barber services. In addition we offer the services of a local podiatrist within the facility every three months.

There are special rooms available to all residents and their family members that may be used for special occasions. This is a wonderful place to have birthday parties, or just spend time visiting.

Transportation

One of the services offered is group or individual transportation for our clients at no extra charge. Transportation is available to medical appointments, luncheons, shopping trips, parades, entertainment and community events.

Our transportation fleet includes one bus, one vehicle and three vans. Our bus can accommodate 12 to 14 individuals and two wheelchair passengers. The vans are walk-in wheelchair accessible which accommodates one wheelchair and up to three passengers. We also offer one vehicle for individual transportation needs. We encourage families to accompany their loved ones to appointments.

Visit often

Families are encouraged to visit often. You are welcome to eat a meal with your loved one, take them out to eat, go for a drive or a home visit.

The staff at Woodworth Healthcare takes pride in providing a homelike atmosphere. We are all committed to quality care and strive to ensure that the highest quality of life is achieved for all residents.

Family and friends are always “WELCOME”. Come by for a tour, ask questions or just to have a cup of coffee.
